William D. Stasko

BIOGRAPHY

The Resident:

William “Bill” Stasko is a lifelong resident of the Johnstown region. He is very proud of his Johnstown heritage and the hard working values and principles demonstrated by the residence of the area. Bill is honored to be a 1978 graduate of Bishop McCort High School as well as an alumnus of St. Vincent College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1982. Bill is a lifelong Democrat and has served as a Westmont Borough Council Member. Since 1987, he has faithfully voted in the Primary and General Elections, have missed only two elections. 

The Businessman:

Bill became a Pennsylvania Certified Public Account (CPA) in 1986, and launched his career as the controller with Glosser Bros. Inc. In 1992, he opened his own CPA and investment practice. With years of education and experience under his belt, Bill began his private practice serving businesses and the citizens of our region. He is an independent businessman and has employed three people for the last 16 years. Bill is also a Licensed Registered Investment Representative for HD Vest. Bill uses his vast experience as an Adjunct Teacher for the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College and Mt. Aloysius College.

The Citizen:

Bill has been married to Trudi Gelles for 22 years and together they are raising their four children. He is very active in his children’s activities as well as his own. Bill has been a licensed hunter in Pennsylvania since he was 12 years old. Bill is an active member of St. Clement Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 10084, where he is a past Grand Knight and currently serves as Treasurer of the K of C Seminary Endowment Committee. He is active with various committees at Cathedral Catholic Academy and is the Treasurer of the school’s Athletic Association.

Bill is currently a PIAA Soccer Referee, and has been an AYSO Soccer Coach and Peewee/Jr. High soccer and basketball coach for over 10 years. He is the Director of the Johnstown Parochial Girls Soccer League. Other community involvement includes being a regular blood donor and serving meals at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. Bill is currently the Chairman of Mom's House Inc. and previously their treasurer.
