| Why Vote for William D. StaskoThrough my past business experience and community involvement, I have been preparing for this Representative seat for my entire life. As Controller for Glosser Bros Inc., a retail chain with $300,000,000 in sales, 70 stores, 50 buyers, 3 warehouses, management and a data center, I managed a staff of 105 clerks. I was the liaison between all company locations, providing solutions to issues and developing new systems to increase productivity and profits. I currently deal on a daily basis with Pennsylvania Department of Revenue regarding sales tax and employer withholding tax and laws, workers compensation insurance, in addition to the Department of Labor and Industry and the Department of General Services. As a self-employed businessman I cannot rest on the laurels of others to bring revenue into my office. I must serve clients confidentially and professionally, meet their needs in a timely manner and in most cases communicate with the IRS and Pennsylvania agencies along the way. I know how the government operates and the difficulties businesses face. Issues I will aggressively pursue when electedFamily life from cradle to grave – It seems to me that most families enjoy living in Pennsylvania, but we do not have enough jobs to keep our children here. Pennsylvania needs to step up and make available services for child and senior care, high school and college education costs, health insurance and more jobs. We love our children and do not want them to leave. We need to make these items available so that when a business is looking to relocate into the Pennsylvania environment, we have an available work force. Pennsylvania Building Code (PBC) – PBC is being applied differently in each community thus stifling growth and expansion. The high costs and long delays in obtaining permits, inspections and professional fees has led to trouble for residences and businesses alike. We need to review this legislation and apply the rules in a more uniform and growth-developing manor, thus increasing our real-estate tax base and inviting more businesses to set up in Pennsylvania. This will lead to lowering the rest of the landowner real estate taxes. Landlord Rights – Pennsylvania State legislation has to take on this issue and keep every City, Township or Borough from developing its own set of laws. Most landlords are hardworking individuals who take pride in their properties. They do not need local governments applying rules and fees upon them just because there are a few bad landlords out there. Volunteer Fire Companies (VFC) – It’s about time the State assists VFC’s with operating money and upgrades to fire protection apparatuses and buildings. The fact that most VFC’s have a manpower shortage is reason enough to step in and make state of the art life saving equipment readily available to these fine men and women. |
